How to Measure for Your Wedding Dress
Accurate measurements are crucial for ensuring that your wedding dress fits perfectly. Follow these instructions to measure yourself correctly.
1. Bust
- What to Measure: The fullest part of your bust.
-
How to Measure:
- Stand up straight with your arms at your sides.
- Wrap a soft measuring tape around your back, under your arms, and across the fullest part of your bust.
- Ensure the tape is parallel to the floor and not too tight.
- Wear the bra you plan to wear with your dress for the most accurate measurement.
2. Waist
- What to Measure: The narrowest part of your waist, usually above your belly button and below your ribcage.
-
How to Measure:
- Find your natural waist by bending to one side; the crease that forms is your natural waistline.
- Wrap the measuring tape around this point.
- Keep the tape snug but not too tight, and make sure it's parallel to the floor.
3. Hips
- What to Measure: The fullest part of your hips and buttocks.
-
How to Measure:
- Stand with your feet together.
- Wrap the measuring tape around the widest part of your hips and bottom.
- Ensure the tape is straight and parallel to the floor.
4. Hollow to Floor
- What to Measure: The distance from the hollow of your neck to the floor.
-
How to Measure:
- Stand straight with your feet together.
- Start the measuring tape at the hollow at the base of your neck (just above your collarbone).
- Measure down to the floor, ensuring the tape is straight.
- For floor-length dresses, measure to the floor, including the height of your wedding shoes.
5. Height
- What to Measure: Your total height from the top of your head to the floor.
-
How to Measure:
- Stand straight with your back against a wall.
- Make sure your feet are flat on the ground.
- Mark the top of your head on the wall.
- Measure the distance from the mark to the floor.
